The dimensions that repeat in every kitchen

Built-in oven: width 60 cm, height 60 cm (or 45 cm for a compact model), niche depth 55-58 cm. Dishwasher: standard 60 cm wide or narrow 45 cm, niche height 82–87 cm. Stove: common 60 cm wide, 75–90 cm for large kitchens — and the marble cut must match the specific model. Hood: 60 or 90 cm, depending on the width of the stove below it. Built-in microwave: 60 cm wide with a niche height of 38–45 cm for most models.

How to measure a niche correctly

Measure three times: the width of the opening (between the inner sides of the cabinet), the height of the opening, and the depth to the wall - including taking into account piping or sockets that stand out. Add to the test the ventilation gap that the manufacturer requires (usually appears in the installation instructions), and the location of the electricity or gas point.

In stoves it is especially important: the degree of cutting in the marble (Cut-out) is different from the degree of the external product. Replacing an existing stove? Measure the existing hole and look for a model with the same or slightly larger cutting size - a hole that is too large cannot be reduced.

Common mistakes that are costly

To order an oven according to 'all 60 cm' without measuring depth; to forget that an integral dishwasher needs a matching cabinet front; to ignore the door opening gap in front of the kitchen island; and to assume that the existing gas point is suitable for the new stove. Each of these mistakes is discovered on the day of installation - the most unpleasant.
